Painful arc is a syndrome that is characterized by severe pain in the shoulder. The phenomenon is also called Shoulder Impingement Syndrome.
The symptoms are usually observed when one raises the arms overhead or above shoulder level. The pain might also arise if the arm is moved from sideways to the body.
This shoulder pain results when repetitive injuries in the rotator cuff tendons cause inflammation in the muscles making the movements full of pain.
